An-Naba

النبإ

The Tidings

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. Juz 30
  2. عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ۝١

    ‘Amma yatasā'alūn(a).

    About what are they asking one another?

  3. عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۝٢

    ‘Anin naba'il-‘aẓīm(i).

    About the great news -

  4. ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ ۝٣

    Allażī hum fīhi mukhtalifūn(a).

    That over which they are in disagreement.

  5. كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ۝٤

    Kallā saya‘lamūn(a).

    No! They are going to know.

  6. ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ۝٥

    Ṡumma kallā saya‘lamūn(a).

    Then, no! They are going to know.

  7. أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا ۝٦

    Alam naj‘alil-arḍa mihādā(n).

    Have We not made the earth a resting place?

  8. وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا ۝٧

    Wal-jibāla autādā(n).

    And the mountains as stakes?

  9. وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ۝٨

    Wa khalaqnākum azwājā(n).

    And We created you in pairs.

  10. وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا ۝٩

    Wa ja‘alnā naumakum subātā(n).

    And made your sleep [a means for] rest

  11. وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا ۝١٠

    Wa ja‘alnal-laila libāsā(n).

    And made the night as clothing.

  12. وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا ۝١١

    Wa ja‘alnan-nahāra ma‘āsyā(n).

    And made the day for livelihood.

  13. وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا ۝١٢

    Wa banainā fauqakum sab‘an syidādā(n).

    And constructed above you seven strong [heavens].

  14. وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا ۝١٣

    Wa ja‘alnā sirājaw wahhājā(n).

    And made [therein] a burning lamp

  15. وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ۝١٤

    Wa anzalnā minal-mu‘ṣirāti mā'an ṡajjājā(n).

    And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water.

  16. لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا ۝١٥

    Linukhrija bihī ḥabbaw wa nabātā(n).

    That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation.

  17. وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا ۝١٦

    Wa jannātin alfāfā(n).

    And gardens of entwined growth.

  18. إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا ۝١٧

    Inna yaumal-faṣli kāna mīqātā(n).

    Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

  19. يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا ۝١٨

    Yauma yunfakhu fiṣ-ṣūri fa ta'tūna afwājā(n).

    The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

  20. وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا ۝١٩

    Wa futiḥatis-samā'u fa kānat abwābā(n).

    And the heaven is opened and will become gateways.

  21. وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ۝٢٠

    Wa suyyiratil-jibālu fa kānat sarābā(n).

    And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

  22. إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا ۝٢١

    Inna jahannama kānat mirṣādā(n).

    Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

  23. لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا ۝٢٢

    Liṭ-ṭāgīna ma'ābā(n).

    For the transgressors, a place of return,

  24. لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا ۝٢٣

    Lābiṡīna fīhā aḥqābā(n).

    In which they will remain for ages [unending].

  25. لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا ۝٢٤

    Lā yażūqūna fīhā bardaw wa lā syarābā(n).

    They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink.

  26. إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا ۝٢٥

    Illā ḥamīmaw wa gassāqā(n).

    Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

  27. جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا ۝٢٦

    Jazā'aw wifāqā(n).

    An appropriate recompense.

  28. إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا ۝٢٧

    Innahum kānū lā yarjūna ḥisābā(n).

    Indeed, they were not expecting an account

  29. وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا ۝٢٨

    Wa każżabū bi'āyātinā kiżżābā(n).

    And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

  30. وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا ۝٢٩

    Wa kulla syai'in aḥṣaināhu kitābā(n).

    But all things We have enumerated in writing.

  31. فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا ۝٣٠

    Fa żūqū falan nazīdakum illā ‘ażābā(n)

    "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

  32. إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا ۝٣١

    Inna lil-muttaqīna mafāzā(n).

    Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -

  33. حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا ۝٣٢

    Ḥadā'iqa wa a‘nābā(n).

    Gardens and grapevines.

  34. وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا ۝٣٣

    Wa kawā‘iba atrābā(n).

    And full-breasted [companions] of equal age.

  35. وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا ۝٣٤

    Wa ka'san dihāqā(n).

    And a full cup.

  36. لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا ۝٣٥

    Lā yasma‘ūna fīhā lagwaw wa lā kiżżābā(n).

    No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

  37. جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ۝٣٦

    Jazā'am mir rabbika ‘aṭā'an ḥisābā(n).

    [As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

  38. رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا ۝٣٧

    Rabbis-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa mā bainahumar-raḥmāni lā yamlikūna minhu khiṭābā(n).

    [From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

  39. يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا ۝٣٨

    Yauma yaqūmur-rūḥu wal-malā'ikatu ṣaffā(n), lā yatakallamūna illā man ażina lahur-raḥmānu wa qāla ṣawābā(n).

    The Day that the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

  40. ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا ۝٣٩

    Żālikal-yaumul-ḥaqq(u), faman syā'attakhaża ilā rabbihī ma'ābā(n).

    That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

  41. إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا ۝٤٠

    Innā anżarnākum ‘ażāban qarībā(n), yauma yanẓurul-mar'u mā qaddamat yadāhu wa yaqūlul-kāfiru yā laitanī kuntu turābā(n).

    Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
