An-Nazi'at

النازعات

Those who drag forth

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا ۝١

    Wan-nāzi‘āti garqā(n).

    By those [angels] who extract with violence

  2. وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا ۝٢

    Wan-nāsyiṭāti nasyṭā(n).

    And [by] those who remove with ease

  3. وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا ۝٣

    Was-sābiḥāti sabḥā(n).

    And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming

  4. فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا ۝٤

    Fas-sābiqāti sabqā(n).

    And those who race each other in a race

  5. فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا ۝٥

    Fal-mudabbirāti amrā(n).

    And those who arrange [each] matter,

  6. يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ ۝٦

    Yauma tarjufur-rājifah(tu).

    On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],

  7. تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ ۝٧

    Tatba‘uhar-rādifah(tu).

    There will follow it the subsequent [one].

  8. قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ۝٨

    Qulūbuy yauma'iżiw wājifah(tun).

    Hearts, that Day, will tremble,

  9. أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ ۝٩

    Abṣāruhā khāsyi‘ah(tun).

    Their eyes humbled.

  10. يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ ۝١٠

    Yaqūlūna a'innā lamardūdūna fil-ḥāfirah(ti).

    They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?

  11. أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً ۝١١

    A'iżā kunnā ‘iẓāman nakhirah(tan).

    Even if we should be decayed bones?"

  12. قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ ۝١٢

    Qālū tilka iżan karratun khāsirah(tun).

    They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."

  13. فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ ۝١٣

    Fa innamā hiya zajratuw wāḥidah(tun).

    Indeed, it will be but one shout,

  14. فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ ۝١٤

    Fa iżā hum bis-sāhirah(ti).

    And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.

  15. هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ۝١٥

    Hal atāka ḥadīṡu mūsā.

    Has there reached you the story of Moses? -

  16. إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ۝١٦

    Iż nādāhu rabbuhū bil-wādil-muqaddasi ṭuwā(n).

    When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā,

  17. ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ ۝١٧

    Iżhab ilā fir‘auna innahū ṭagā.

    "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.

  18. فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ ۝١٨

    Fa qul hal laka ilā an tazakkā.

    And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself

  19. وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ ۝١٩

    Wa ahdiyaka ilā rabbika fa takhsyā.

    And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"

  20. فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ۝٢٠

    Fa arāhul-āyatal-kubrā.

    And he showed him the greatest sign,

  21. فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ ۝٢١

    Fa każżaba wa ‘aṣā.

    But he [i.e., Pharaoh] denied and disobeyed.

  22. ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ ۝٢٢

    Ṡumma adbara yas‘ā.

    Then he turned his back, striving [i.e., plotting].

  23. فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ ۝٢٣

    Fa ḥasyara fanādā.

    And he gathered [his people] and called out.

  24. فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۝٢٤

    Fa qāla ana rabbukumul-a‘lā.

    And said, "I am your most exalted lord."

  25. فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ ۝٢٥

    Fa akhażahullāhu nakālal-ākhirati wal-ūlā.

    So Allāh seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]..

  26. إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ ۝٢٦

    Inna fī żālika la‘ibratal limay yakhsyā.

    Indeed in that is a lesson [i.e., warning] for whoever would fear [Allāh].

  27. ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا ۝٢٧

    A'antum asyaddu khalqan amis-samā'u banāhā.

    Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? He [i.e., Allāh] constructed it.

  28. رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا ۝٢٨

    Rafa‘a samkahā fa sawwāhā.

    He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.

  29. وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا ۝٢٩

    Wa agṭasya lailahā wa akhraja ḍuḥāhā.

    And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.

  30. وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ ۝٣٠

    Wal-arḍa ba‘da żālika daḥāhā.

    And after that He spread the earth.

  31. أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا ۝٣١

    Akhraja minhā mā'ahā wa mar‘āhā.

    He extracted from it its water and its pasture,

  32. وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا ۝٣٢

    Wal-jibāla arsāhā.

    And the mountains He set firmly

  33. مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ۝٣٣

    Matā‘al lakum wa li'an‘āmikum.

    As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.

  34. فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ۝٣٤

    Fa iżā jā'atiṭ-ṭāmmatul-kubrā.

    But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -

  35. يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ ۝٣٥

    Yauma yatażakkarul-insānu mā sa‘ā.

    The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,

  36. وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ ۝٣٦

    Wa burrizatil-jaḥīmu limay yarā.

    And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -

  37. فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ ۝٣٧

    Fa ammā man ṭagā.

    So as for he who transgressed

  38. وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۝٣٨

    Wa āṡaral-ḥayātad-dun-yā.

    And preferred the life of the world,

  39. فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ۝٣٩

    Fa innal-jaḥīma hiyal-ma'wā.

    Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.

  40. وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ ۝٤٠

    Wa ammā man khāfa maqāma rabbihī wa nahan-nafsa ‘anil-hawā.

    But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,

  41. فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ ۝٤١

    Fa innal-jannata hiyal-ma'wā.

    Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.

  42. يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا ۝٤٢

    Yas'alūnaka ‘anis-sā‘ati ayyāna mursāhā.

    They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?

  43. فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ ۝٤٣

    Fīma anta min żikrāhā.

    In what [position] are you that you should mention it?

  44. إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ ۝٤٤

    Ilā rabbika muntahāhā.

    To your Lord is its finality.

  45. إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا ۝٤٥

    Innamā anta munżiru may yakhsyāhā.

    You are only a warner for those who fear it.

  46. كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا ۝٤٦

    Ka'annahum yauma yaraunahā lam yalbaṡū illā ‘asyiyyatan au ḍuḥāhā.

    It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
